Funding an organization is one of the most challenging problems leaders face. It is not always feasible to align major sponsors for upcoming activities. Luckily there are many ways to fund your projects that do not require sponsors to foot the bill.
In-kind Donations
Many companies are able to give in-kind donations instead of monetary help. For example, an org that builds racing cars at the college level can receive spare parts from small companies as part of in-kind donations in exchange for putting that sponsor's logo on the car.
Crowdsource
Mature organizations can often overlook how much can be accomplished with crowdsourcing. Instead of sponsoring an expensive networking night dinner, leaders can go back to basics and do a potluck. Not only does crowdsourcing helps get the job done but it also has marketing and networking built in.
Partnering
Small organizations can be at a disadvantage when it comes to acquiring large sponsors. They just don't have the critical mass of members to attract these sponsors. However, combining the project with other organizations will help increase the number of folks on the roster. Also, you may learn a thing or two about how other organizations of similar size do their planning.
